Description of Duties:
  • Installs and configures PC hardware and software (Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP)
  • Installs and configures server hardware and software (Windows 2000 and 2003 server)
  • Performs server software backups / restoration using Comvault application.
  • Researches issues, tools, technologies on the Web for problem solving
  • Provides Customer Service for PC software and hardware issues through Help Desk
  • Maintains existing and new computer systems
  • Performs weekend responsibilities for system availability and tape backups on a rotation basis
  • Creates /modifies documentation for procedures, resolutions
  • Performs network administration procedures as required

  • Able to work with others in a team setting
  • Self-starter, highly motivated
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience with PC operating system software and PC hardware
  • Some experience with network software and hardware
  • Some experience with peripheral hardware (printers, digital cameras, scanners)
  • MCSE, A+ certification or equivalent
  • Able to work with technical consultants for advanced troubleshooting
  • Able to meet definite deadlines and deal with pressure situations
  • Flexible to perform occasional scheduled installation / upgrade projects during non-business hours
  • Excellent verbal (including telephone) and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Attends to detail
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Excellent keyboarding skills
  • Position requires extended periods of sitting, manual dexterity to operate computer and office equipment
  • Visually able to read the computer screen and computer printouts
Education and Experience:
2 year degree preferred
  • Knowledgeable in Windows 2000 and Windows XP
  • Familiar with Server Configuration
  • Knowledgeable in PC / Server hardware concepts
  • MCSE, A+ or equivalent certification
  • Competent in technical research and troubleshooting
  • Familiar with basic network administration concepts
Helpful knowledge, education and experience:
  • 4 year degree
  • Cisco firewall, switches and router
  • Lotus Notes administration
  • Imaging software and electronic faxing
  • VPN concepts
  • Dialup and broadband connections
  • Local and remote Help Desk support
  • PC imaging software
  • VoIP Telephony
  • SQL
  • XML
  • Java
