Home Health Care Services Liability

Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Comapny offers broad professional liability coverage for your pharmacy, home health care and/or home medical equipment operations. 

Available for both the Businessowners Policy and Commercial Package Policy, our Home Health Care Services Liability endorsement provides coverage for your operations and employees arising from the rendering or failure to render “home health care services.”

The endorsement provides coverage for:

• A home health care professional employee, which includes a nurse, respiratory therapist, physical therapist, orthotist or other similar health care professional whose duties are supplemental to those of a professional licensed to prescribe medications; and
• A home health care services provider, which includes an orthotic fitter, CNA, oxygen technician, personal care companion or similar provider.

However, no coverage is provided for the following medical professionals: pharmacist, physician, surgeon, physician assistant, dentist, nurse anesthetist, nurse practitioner, midwife or any health care professional licensed by law to prescribe medications.

Home Health Care Services are defined as:

• providing advice or instructions to your patient when such advice or instruction is a recognized duty of the home health care professional or services provider employee;
• administering drugs, including providing immunizations, as allowed by the state;
• providing nursing, social or therapeutic treatment or assistance with the essential activities of daily living; or
• providing other professional duties recognized by the licensing laws of the state.
